The famous Trunkwala family, Chairman World Group took an initiative along with Leisure League to promote football in Pakistan. Isn’t it kinda sad that we’ve no football stadiums in the entire country? Yes, I know our nation is crazy for cricket but what about those of us who are die hard fans of football? I am sure that football fans would have never imagined that players like Brazilian legend footballer Ronaldinho along with other star players including Nicolas Anelka, David James, Robert Pires, Luis Boa Morte, George Boateng, Roberto Carlos and Ryan Giggs will not only visit Pakistan but also play with the local team!
This was a giant step for international sports in Pakistan. We hope that such events keep happening for every kind of sports, especially for football though.
Twitter got a bit crazy as expected during the matches. Pakistan was celebrating – even Lahore’s humidity couldn’t beat the excitement!

About Leisure Leagues are the world’s largest organisers of 5,6 and 7-a-side football and as well as running leagues in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, they operate leagues in the Republic of Ireland and America. In 2017, the brand expanded to Pakistan as well. Leisure Leagues History: In the 1980s a co-operative of sports facility managers began the first established network of smallsided football leagues, predominantly in sports halls and, in 1990 these were grouped under a single generic name, Leisure Leagues, to represent a local small-sided football league usually located outside London and in rural or provincial towns across the United Kingdom where the opportunity for low cost competitive sport was limited. Leisure Leagues then grew throughout the United Kingdom with the first leagues in the Republic of Ireland beginning in 2007, in the United States of America in 2012 and in Pakistan in 2017. Leisure Leagues is the generic name for multiple organizations operating under either a franchise or license and is the largest independent network of small-sided leagues globally. Leisure Leagues operates 62 separate multi-league franchises in the United Kingdom. Leisure Leagues Pakistan Launch: Mehmood Trunkwala, Chairman World Group took an initiative to promote sports in Pakistan, as a first step he brought Leisure Leagues to Pakistan which is scheduled to be launched by July 2017 with Brazilian legend footballer Ronaldinho along with other star players including Nicolas Anelka, David James, Robert Pires, Luis Boa Morte, George Boateng, Roberto Carlos and Ryan Giggs to visit Pakistan to be the face of the mega event. There is no doubt that this going to be the biggest sporting event of Pakistan in history as no players of such caliber expect the great boxer Muhammad Ali visited Pakistan in 1988. After 29 long years Mehmood Trunkwala – Chairman World Group is bringing these football legends to Pakistan. This venture, ‘Ronaldinho & Friends’ will of course portray the peaceful and sports loving nation image in front of the World.
